What is your view of Myspace?

I've often wondered, what is the point of Myspace?

Is it a tool that keeps us connected with our past or is it simply a way to make our lives "appear" to be more fabulous than they really are?

I've recently deleted my Myspace page because I started to feel as if I was keeping in touch with people from high school, college, %26amp; even childhood that I wouldn't naturally have kept in touch with.

It seemed as if the "comments" and "just saying hi" were getting in the way of REAL conversation. Another thing that I found difficult %26amp; demeaning was the listing of TOP FRIENDS.

I agree. I think myspace can be sort of useful but the whole idea of comments makes it hard to keep intouvh because it is not instantaneus and so you may as well use e0mail with the same effect of use msn for instant communication.

the point of myspace is 'a social networking site so i guess its basically a plac ewhere people can pretend they are so much cooler than they are and try to have as many friend as they can to prove they are 'cool'.

i deleted my myspace because i was sick of pretending and having to pretend i didnt just find other people profiles well fake.

It's an ego-stroking popularity contest. I deleted mine when I finally realized this.

What is your view of Myspace?

I think it's really designed for a very narrow margin of people between 14-18 yrs old. It's not really that functional when you get older, except to play with. I never really liked short message communicating and never used the old chat rooms. I don't see the real value of text messaging either. Mostly meaningless. The novelty wears off after a while.

I also find MySpace is really slowing down with all the usage.

A lot of people use it simply as a way of sharing photos.

What is your view of Myspace?

Myspace is more of a teen thing, used for communicating

and showing off their personal style with profiles filled

with info about their taste in music, movies, television, etc.

It is also a great way for bands to promote themselves

as well as for teens to discover new types of music.

I think it's a great website, despite all the hype about

"stalkers" and "creeps".

There are a lot of privacy settings, and if kids are smart about

it, there's not chance of putting themselves in danger.

Just add the people you really WANT to talk to,

and hide your top friends :]

Put the people you really care about when they are online

on your top friends so that's who you see every time

you view your home page.
