right now my profile i set to private because theres a person that i don't want to see it. but i was wondering if theres a way to make it so it only applies to them? i know that you can block them but im pretty sure that makes it so they only cant contact you right?

Yes. Blocking them stops them dead in their tracks. They can't view your profile, pics, or message/comment you.
Just go to their page and click Block on their contact table. Done and done.
